Windsurfing – tento název vznikl z anglických slov wind - vítr a surf - příboj a přesně vystihuje oč se v tomto sportu jedná. Zatímco ale windsurfing je sport poměrně mladý, asi 35 let, tak surfování na prknech po příbojových vlnách provozují havaijští domorodci od nepaměti. Surfing velmi rádi provozovali i kaliforňané Jim Drake se svým přítelem Hoylem Schweitzerem. Jelikož to byli činorodí muži, přemýšleli, jak si zasurfovat, ikdyž zrovna ty správné vlny nejsou. Jim Drake tak jednoho dne připevnil na klasické surfové prkno trojúhelníkovou plachtu s ráhnem pro držení. Plachta byla připevněna k plováku kloubem a mohla se tak pohybovat ve všech směrech a umožňovat ovládání plováku. Psal se rok 1967 a byl vynalezen windsurfing. |

Hi Everybody ! North American championship in RS:X, Bich Techno 293, Formula windsurfing and Raceboard is now in Cozumel island Mexico. All competitors are registered, measured, they sailed practice race and took part in the great opening ceremony here in Cozumel Mexico at the North american championships 2011.
